Revisitation
last night steven, kenric, and i went to momofuku's (my FOURTH time ... ) to sample the new menu.
now that david chang's won a gazillion awards in the culinary market, i can do WITHOUT the wait.
steve and i split the tripe, chicken buns, veal sweetbreads (heaven!) and braised pork belly (precursor to heart disease for sure) while kenric had the classic momofuku's pork ramen.
we all split a bottle of orion beer (which is probably as good if not better than sapporo reserve).
the night before, steven and i went to blue water grill in union square and enjoyed some complimentary service from steve's friend mark.
he sent us over some of the best maki rolls that i've had in a long time (salmon and spicy tuna rolls served with red and green chili sauce on the side combo-ed with a mayonnaise based citrus sauce) and a banana ice-cream tower for dessert.
for entrees, steve and i both ordered the specials. i had a lightly seared salmon in a zesty lime sauce topped with asparagus while steve had the crispy snapper with ginger dressing.
i was a little disappointed with having to go to restaurants that we've already been to before. but the great food experience made up for the loss of novelty factor.
and it turns out that i may be heading down to atlanta after all. maybe even as early as march.
en route to sakagura tonight ... not really in the mood for sake but then again, tokubetsu is on the menu.
