Insta-Weather
unfortunately ... my schedule, my life, how i plan the day is all dictated by weather.com.
i refuse to go out and meet people in shitty weather.
with that said, after meeting up with mi-ryeong the younger last night (at buon sera ... pinot grigio ... mmm ... and pappardelle with portebello mushrooms and pink wine sauce, t'was heaven), i've decided that my idea of fun is pretty straightforward. even despite the old temptation to pass out crunked in my own vomit and wake up in the middle of nowhere for what a former mentor of mine called, "temporary healing" ... in the end, it's not worth it and i'm not just talking about graceless hangovers.
but to have small dinner parties with intelligent and engaging people, interesting conversations, some insider jokes, throw in a debate or two, a funny anecdote, a small dose of sarcasm, and then to top it off ... a poignant moment or an insight gleaned makes me SO HAPPY.
i'm giving nyc another year before i decide to pick up and move. at this point, would i be willing to give up my penchant for new clothes and fine dining for the more pastoral version of life?
you bet, absolutely.
but giving up my friends?
now that's a tough call.
